Robux vs V-Bucks: which is the better deal?
Robux and V-Bucks are the two most-bought game currencies on the planet, but comparing their prices is apples-to-oranges: a V-Buck is cheaper per unit than a Robux, but the two buy completely different things. This page lays out the raw numbers and what they actually mean.
| Compared | Robux | V-Bucks |
|---|---|---|
| Price per unit | 1.25¢ per Robux | 0.80¢ per V-Buck |
| $1 buys you | ≈ 80 Robux | ≈ 125 V-Bucks |
| $50 buys you | ≈ 4,004 Robux | ≈ 6,258 V-Bucks |
| Cheapest bundle | 10,000 Robux for $99.99 | 13,500 V-Bucks for $99.99 |
| Battle pass economics | No battle pass — Robux is a pure spend | 950 V-Bucks, refunds 1,500 on completion |
By the raw numbers
Per single unit, V-Bucks are cheaper: 0.8¢ versus Robux's 1.25¢. That gap shrinks when you buy Robux at scale — the 10,000 Robux pack drops to ~1.0¢ per Robux, while V-Bucks only improve marginally at the 13,500 pack (~0.74¢). So at large bundle sizes the two converge to a roughly comparable price-per-unit.
But that's where the direct comparison ends. A "unit" isn't a unit: a single Robux buys a small accessory while a single V-Buck buys very little at all — Fortnite prices its cheapest cosmetics in hundreds. Comparing them by unit count is like comparing dollars to euros at face value.
What actually moves the value
V-Bucks win on the Battle Pass. Fortnite's 950-V-Bucks pass refunds 1,500 V-Bucks when completed — a permanent +58% return that funds every future season. No Roblox equivalent exists; Robux is a pure spend with no self-funding loop.
Robux wins on resale. Robux is the only one of the two that can flow back into real money, through Roblox's DevEx program for creators. For builders and game developers, Robux is effectively a convertible currency; V-Bucks are strictly one-way.
Buying power differs by scale. A typical Roblox cosmetic costs tens to hundreds of Robux; a typical Fortnite skin costs hundreds of V-Bucks. In real-money terms both land in the same $5–$25 band, so what you're really paying for is the content, not the currency.
The verdict
For a player who just wants to keep playing and buy content, V-Bucks are the better value thanks to the self-funding Battle Pass. For someone who builds on Roblox, Robux is more than a purchase — it's an earnable asset through DevEx. If you're buying only once for cosmetics, price-per-unit says V-Bucks; if you want your money to have a return path, Robux.
