Frequently asked
Why does the Gem price move?
The exchange is driven entirely by players: converting Gems to Gold injects Gold into the market, converting Gold to Gems pulls it out. When more players want Gold, the rate of Gold per Gem falls; when more players hold Gems, it rises. ArenaNet sets no fixed rate — it floats with the player base.
Where does this data come from?
ArenaNet publishes the live exchange rate through its official, keyless public API (the same one their own tools use). This is first-party data from the developer who runs the exchange. See our methodology page for details.
Is the USD conversion reliable?
It combines the live Gold-per-Gem rate with ArenaNet's official store price (800 Gems / $10), checked 2026-08-05. The exchange rate is live; the store price is a fixed list price we re-verify periodically.
